Privacy Policy for Odyssey: To Ithaca

Effective date: August 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the Android game Odyssey: To Ithaca (Korean title: 오디세이: 이타카로; formerly Threads of Ithaca / 귀향의 실; package com.brainer.odyssey), published by Brainer.

Summary

Odyssey: To Ithaca is a short, single-player game. It has no account system, developer-operated server, cloud save, in-app purchases, chat, developer-run analytics system, or feature that accesses precise location. Game progress and settings are stored on the user's device. The free app uses Google's advertising and privacy-choice services, which may process the information described below.

Information stored on the device

The app stores story progress, choice history, game values such as crew and supplies, endings the user has seen, the best result, and the reduced-motion setting on the device. This information is used only to save and resume the game, and the developer does not receive it. Depending on the user's Android backup settings, Android may include this information in a device backup or transfer it to a new device. Users can erase it by selecting “Reset all progress” in the app, clearing the app's data in Android settings, or uninstalling the app.

Advertising and consent services

The app uses the Google Mobile Ads software tool. A full-screen ad may appear only from the separate interlude screens after Acts 2, 3, and 4. Ads are at least 90 seconds apart and capped at three per app session. If an ad is unavailable or ad requests are not permitted, the next act opens immediately. In regions where privacy choices are required, the app also uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent tool. These software tools are commonly called SDKs.

According to Google's Mobile Ads disclosure, the SDK may automatically collect or share the following information to provide ads, measure performance, and prevent fraud:

  • IP address, which may be used to estimate the device's general area;
  • app-use information, such as app launches, taps, and ad or video views;
  • diagnostic information, such as app start time, freezes, and energy use; and
  • device identifiers, including the Android advertising ID, app set ID, and other applicable device-related IDs.

Google states that this information is encrypted while being sent over the internet using a security technology called TLS. The ads shown and the way information is processed may vary by region, privacy choice, device settings, and whether Google limits personalized ads. In regions where a privacy-choice message is required, the app checks the user's current choice at launch. It does not request ads until UMP reports that ad requests are allowed. Where Google requires the privacy-choice menu to remain available, users can reopen it from the app's Settings screen.

Google's current disclosures and controls are available at:

Users can also reset or delete the Android advertising ID if their Android privacy settings support this option.

Permissions

The game uses internet and network-state permissions so that Google's advertising and privacy-choice tools can work. Google and AndroidX libraries also add permissions for the Android advertising ID, measuring ad performance through Android's Privacy Sandbox, keeping the device awake during short tasks, and supporting their internal services. The game does not start its own service that keeps running while the app is off screen. These permissions do not require the user to approve a separate prompt for sensitive access after installation.

The app does not request sensitive Android permissions for precise or background location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, videos, files, phone calls, text messages, health information, or notifications.

Children and minors

The app is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not made for children or minors. It does not knowingly ask children or minors for personal information. It has no social features, features for posting user-created text or images, purchases, or ads designed for children.

Data retention and deletion

Game data stored on the device remains there until the user resets it, clears the app's data, or uninstalls the app. The developer does not operate a server that stores user profiles for this app. Information processed by Google is governed by Google's policies and the user's Google and Android privacy settings.

Security

The app limits the information handled by the developer by keeping game progress on the device and by not operating an account or server. No internet transmission or electronic storage method is completely secure. Services provided by other companies, such as Google, follow their own security practices.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app's features, third-party software tools, or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised when an important change is published.

Privacy Policy for Odyssey: To Ithaca

Effective date: August 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the Android game Odyssey: To Ithaca (Korean title: 오디세이: 이타카로; formerly Threads of Ithaca / 귀향의 실; package com.brainer.odyssey), published by Brainer.

Summary

Odyssey: To Ithaca is a short, single-player game. It has no account system, developer-operated server, cloud save, in-app purchase, chat, analytics account, or precise-location feature. Game progress and settings are stored on the device. The free app uses Google advertising and consent-management services, which may process data as described below.

Information stored on the device

The app stores story progress, choice history, resource values, unlocked endings, best result, and the reduced-motion setting in Android local storage. This information is used only to save and resume the game. The developer does not receive it. Depending on the user's Android backup settings, Android may include this local information in a device backup or transfer. Users can erase local progress from the app's Settings screen, clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app.

Advertising and consent services

The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to show an interstitial advertisement only at authored breaks after Acts 2 and 4. It also uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK to request and manage privacy choices where required.

According to Google's disclosure for the Mobile Ads SDK, the SDK automatically collects and shares the following information for advertising, analytics, and fraud-prevention purposes:

  • IP address, which may be used to estimate a device's general location;
  • product interactions, such as app launches, taps, and ad or video views;
  • diagnostic information, such as app launch time, hang rate, and energy usage; and
  • device or account identifiers, including the Android advertising ID, app set ID, and, where applicable, other device-related identifiers.

Google states that this information is encrypted in transit using TLS. Available ads and data processing may differ according to the user's region, consent choice, device settings, and Google's limited-ads behavior. In regions where a privacy message is required, the app requests updated consent information at launch and does not request ads until the UMP SDK reports that ad requests are permitted. Where Google requires a privacy-options entry point, users can reopen it from the app's Settings screen.

Google's current disclosures and controls are available at:

Users can also reset or delete the Android advertising ID through supported Android privacy controls.

Permissions

The game directly requests internet and network-state access so that Google Mobile Ads and UMP can operate. The merged Google/AndroidX SDK manifest also declares the Android advertising-ID permission, Privacy Sandbox ad-ID/attribution/topics permissions, wake-lock support, and the base foreground-service support used by SDK infrastructure. The game does not implement or start an app-owned foreground-service feature. These are not user-granted dangerous permissions.

The app does not request precise or background location, contacts, camera, microphone, storage/media, phone, SMS, health, notification, or other sensitive Android permissions.

Children and minors

The app is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children or minors. It does not knowingly ask children or minors to provide personal information. The app does not include social features, user-generated content, purchases, or child-directed advertising design.

Data retention and deletion

Local game data remains on the device until the user resets it, clears app storage, or uninstalls the app. The developer does not operate a server that stores a user profile for this app. Data processed by Google is governed by Google's policies and the user's Google and Android privacy controls.

Security

The app minimizes developer-controlled data by keeping game progress local and by not operating an account or backend service. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and third-party services remain subject to their own security practices.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app, its SDKs, or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are published.
