Privacy Policy for Phone Pass

Privacy Policy for Phone Pass

Effective date: August 8, 2026

Phone Pass ("the app") helps users manually check key functions of an Android device before a used-phone transaction. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.

Information processed by the app

The app reads basic device information such as the device model, Android version, battery state, available storage and memory, display dimensions, and the availability or live response of supported sensors. It also stores the pass, check-needed, unsupported, or untested status that you select for each diagnostic. This information is processed on your device and is not sent to a Phone Pass server.

Diagnostic results remain in local app storage until you reset them, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. If you choose Android's share action, the result text is sent only to the app or person you select through the Android share sheet.

Permissions

  • Camera: requested only when you open the flashlight test, because Android requires camera permission to control the flash. The app does not take, save, or upload photos or video.
  • Microphone: requested only when you open the microphone test and start measuring. Audio is used in memory to display a live input level. The app does not create, save, or upload an audio recording.
  • Vibration: used only to trigger the vibration test.
  • Internet and network state: used by Google Mobile Ads and the Google User Messaging Platform to request ads and privacy messages. The diagnostic features remain available without a network connection.

Advertising and consent

The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to display banner ads and occasional interstitial ads. The SDK may automatically collect and share information such as IP address (which can be used to estimate general location), app interactions, diagnostic information about the app and SDK, and device or account identifiers such as the app set ID. This information may be used for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. Data sent by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit.

Phone Pass removes the Android advertising ID permission and does not directly read IMEI, serial number, Android ID, or advertising ID. Google and its advertising partners may still process other identifiers and information as described in Google's policies.

For users in regions where consent is required, the app uses Google's User Messaging Platform before requesting ads. You can review or change available advertising privacy choices from the "Ad privacy settings" entry in the app when that option is required. If you do not consent, Google may serve limited or non-personalized ads where available.

Children

Phone Pass is intended for adults evaluating a device purchase and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data security and retention by third parties

We do not operate an account system or a backend that receives your diagnostic results. Information processed by Google is handled and retained according to Google's policies and your privacy choices. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, but we use the platform and SDK controls described above to limit collection.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when app features, SDKs, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be revised when material changes are made.
